BSB HEADS TO R&G’S HOME TRACK
The Bennetts British Superbike Championship made a very welcome return to our local track over the weekend and the high-speed circuit did not disappoint. Despite the weather doing its best to disrupt proceedings, there were some action-packed races throughout the paddock and our R&G riders and teams had a great weekend.
In the Superbike class, Storm Stacey took his first points of the season, with the youngster continuing to get to grips with his 2021 ZX-10RR. There were plenty more trophies being collected too, with Ben Currie and Chrissy Rouse taking podiums in the Supersport and Superstock classes respectively. In the National Junior Superstock class, Zak Corderoy took victory to close up to just ten points from the series lead.
2021 R&G Rookies’ Trophy
Open to all riders making the step up to compete in their first full season in any Championship class, the 2021 R&G Rookies’ Trophy is beginning to heat up. The top two rookie riders in each class at the end of the season will be out in front of a panel of industry experts, who will choose their overall top three. These three winners will receive a host of prizes from R&G, Pirelli, LS2 Crash Helmets and WD-40, to support them in their next racing steps.
Each round, R&G will also select one rider to be their Rookie of the Meeting and having taken his fourth podium in a row, including a dominant win in the second Supersport race at a circuit he had not previously ridden, Kyle Smith was named the Thruxton Rookie of the Meeting.
