BSB 23 Comes To Epic Conclusion!

The 2023 Bennetts British Superbike Championship came down to the final lap of the year in what is sure to be one of the most nail-biting and exciting seasons in BSB history. We’d like to say a huge congratulations to Tommy Bridewell and also to Glenn Irwin, who left nothing on track.

For our R&G-protected riders and teams, 2023 was a great season. Christian Iddon and the Oxford Products Racing Ducati finished the year in 9th overall, claiming four podiums across the year. This year was also the breakthrough year for the stars of tomorrow, with Charlie Nesbitt impressing everyone by claiming three podiums in his rookie season, while Storm Stacey and the Starline Racing Kawasaki squad enjoyed their best Superbike season to date.

It was a season-long battle in the R&G Rising Stars, which eventually went to FS-3 Racing’s Max Cook, finishing just 12 points ahead of Nesbitt with Bradley Perie in close contention in third.

2023 proved one of our most successful seasons in the British Supersport class, with Oxford Products Racing Ducati’s Ben Currie being crowned Champion with an incredible six wins and a further eight podiums. Completing an amazing year was Gearlink Kawasaki’s Tom Booth-Amos, who secured second place with seven wins and six podiums. In the Junior Supersport class, Finn Smart-Weeden was crowned Champion, enjoying two victories and four podiums in a brilliant season.

Further R&G success came in the Pirelli National Superstock and Junior Superstock Championships. In the 1000cc class, Joe Talbot and the JR Performance Racing squad had an incredible year, claiming their maiden wins in the class and a further three podiums to finish fourth overall. In the Junior class, Asher Durham finished the season third overall with one victory and five podiums.

Alongside supporting the main Superbike Championship, this year, we also became sponsors for two of the exciting one-make series that make up the paddock. The R&G British Talent Cup gives a platform to the stars of tomorrow, and this year the series came down to the final round, eventually going the way of Evan Belford. Sullivan Mounsey pushed him close, though, while Amanuel Brinton finished the season third overall. It was an incredible year to be a part of, and we are very proud to have played such an important part in the Championship.

We were also the official crash protection supplier for the all-new BMW F 900 R Cup. This one-make series is a cost-effective way to go racing, and the year was dominated by Richard Cooper, who claimed all nine main race wins. It was far from an easy season, though, with Thomas Strudwick pushing him all the way with eight second places and one third, while Mason Johnson finished third overall.
