Showdown beckons for R&G!
The legendary Cadwell Park played host to round seven of the 2022 Bennetts British Superbike Championship, and the undulating Lincolnshire circuit would prove critical as the battle for the all-important Showdown heats up.
It was a fantastic weekend for the R&G-protected Oxford Products Racing Moto Rapido team as Tommy Bridewell claimed a pair of third places in front of Monday’s packed crowd. These two podiums strengthened his position in the Showdown, which the team will be looking to secure next time out at Snetterton.
Of course, it wasn’t just the Superbike class that provided the action over the bumper bank holiday weekend. The rest of the paddock put on an incredible display of high-speed action. In the Supersport class, R&G-backed rider Eugene McManus scored a strong fourth in the opening race, whilst Luke Stapleford was 5th, although bad luck struck in race two, with neither rider finishing.
It was a different story in the Superstock class, though, with R&G riders dominating both the National and the Junior National class. In the 1000cc category, rookie rider Charlie Nesbitt continued to impress the entire paddock with an incredible debut win, while in the 600cc class, Max Cook strengthened his grip at the top of the standings with another win, moving 43 points clear of second place.
The Championship now moves over to Norfolk next weekend for the high-speed Snetterton circuit.
