Home Round Heroes!
Last weekend, the Bennetts British Superbike Championship rolled into our home round at the high-speed and high-thrill Thruxton circuit. Just up the road from our Alton HQ, lots of our R&G team were warmly welcomed as guests of the Oxford Products Racing Moto Rapido team on Sunday, and with the sun shining and spectacular racing on track, it was certainly a weekend to remember!
The weekend saw some of the closest racing in BSB history, and R&G-supported riders and teams ensured there was plenty to shout about! Despite it being a historically tough circuit for him, Tommy Bridewell kept his Showdown challenge on track with three point-scoring rides.
In the British Supersport class, Gearlink Kawasaki’s Luke Stapleford took a pair of third-place finishes after two epic encounters. Eagle-eyed fans will have seen Luke running a special bright orange livery on Sunday as a tribute to the late Norma de Bidaph, who founded the team.
Further podium success came in the National Superstock class, where rookie rider Charlie Nesbitt claimed his first podium finishes with a pair of superb third places. In the National Junior Superstock class, Max Cook took full advantage of his title rivals not scoring by securing victory, which sees him retake the series lead.
It was also great to see R&G crash protection products helping riders across the paddock protect their machines and ensure they could get back on track for the next session. Two notable incidents involved Dan Brooks and Jack Knights, as you can see from the pictures below!
The BSB Championship heads north to the legendary Cadwell Park next, where the paddock will get to take on the iconic mountain!
