Title-winning weekend for R&G riders
The opening round of the 2021 Bennetts British Superbike Showdown proved a thrilling weekend, as Moto Rapido’s Tommy Bridewell took a dominant double to move to within ten points of the title with just two rounds remaining.
However, as the Superbike class heats up, other classes are being wrapped up! Oulton Park saw the first of our R&G Champions, with Charlie Nesbitt securing the Quattro Group British Supersport GP2 Championship and Josh Day winning his third Ducati TriOptions Cup title. Both riders have been in imperious form all season, so a huge congratulations to them.
Continuing in the Supersport class, Ben Currie took a well-earned podium and was on course for victory in race two before being given a time penalty. However, still just a few points behind, it is all to play for over the remaining rounds.
In the Pirelli National Superstock classes, Chrissy Rouse made a very welcome return to the podium with a second place in race one and victory in race two, while in the Junior class, Zak Corderoy also secured a winner’s trophy.
2021 R&G Rookies’ Trophy
Having taken his first podium of the season in the British Supersport class, our R&G Rookie of the Meeting for Oulton Park was an easy choice, and goes the way of Scott Swann!
Open to all riders making the step up to compete in their first full season in any Championship class, the 2021 R&G Rookies’ Trophy is beginning to heat up. The top two rookie riders in each class at the end of the season will be out in front of a panel of industry experts, who will choose their overall top three. These three winners will receive a host of prizes from R&G, Pirelli, LS2 Crash Helmets and WD-40, to support them in their next racing steps.
