REDDING LEADS THE WAY AS 2019 R&G ROOKIES’ TROPHY FINALISTS ANNOUNCED!
With the 2019 Bennetts British Superbike Championship drawing to an incredible close last weekend at Brands Hatch, the R&G Rookies’ Trophy finalists have been confirmed and BSB Champion Scott Redding is just one of a number of riders. The 16 rookies will now be put to a panel of industry experts, with the final three being announced live on stage at Motorcycle Live where they will receive prizes from R&G, Pirelli and LS2 crash helmets.
After an action-packed twelve rounds of racing, the 2019 Bennetts British Superbike Championship came to an epic conclusion at Brands Hatch in Kent last weekend. All season long, crash protection specialist R&G has been running its annual R&G Rookies’ Trophy, which is open to all riders within the paddock who are competing in their first full season in their respective class.
The top two rookie riders in each championship will now be put to a panel of industry experts who’ll choose their overall top three. This panel includes Steve Plater, Stuart Higgs (BSB), Paul Haskins (LS2), Chris Lippitt (R&G) and a Pirelli representative. The overall top three will be announced onstage at Motorcycle Live, with the outright winner receiving £750 cash, as well as £500 of product support from R&G, two sets of race tyres from Pirelli and an Arrow C Evo Helmet Carbon from LS2 with a 2020 Race Support Contract to cover service and product support. Second place will receive £500 of product support from R&G, one front and two rear tyres from Pirelli and an LS2 Arrow Evo Helmet Graphic with service contract - whilst third place will receive £250 R&G product support, one set of Pirelli race tyres and an LS2 Arrow Evo Helmet Mono.
The announcement of the Rookies tops a successful season for R&G, with its protected riders (who include the likes of Tommy Bridewell, Claudio Corti, Rory Skinner and Storm Stacey) taking multiple wins and podiums throughout the season. Korie McGreevy and Scott Ogden also secured further Championship titles for R&G with victory in the Pirelli National Superstock 600 class and Hel Performance British Motostar Standard classes. Scott was also crowned the winner of the British Talent Cup.
The 16 finalists for the R&G Rookies’ Trophy are:
Scott Redding – Bennetts BSB
Xavi Fores – Bennetts BSB
Harry Truelove – Dickies British Supersport
Rory Skinner – Dickies British Supersport
Dan Jones – Hel Performance British Motostar GP

R&G UK Sales Manager Alan Garrett added “It has been an incredible season in the British Superbike Championship and it was amazing to see so many rookie riders across the paddock mix it with the established riders. Obviously what Scott did in the Superbike class was incredible, but McGreevy and Richardson had an amazing season in the Superstock 600 championship which Josh Day was massively impressive in the Ducati Cup. It’s now a difficult task to whittle these down to just three riders!”
