Dixon double tops fantastic weekend of racing for R&G!
The fourth round of the 2017 MCE British Superbike Championship saw the paddock take the trip north of the border to Scotland and the Knockhill circuit. After a long six-week break since Oulton, it was an action-packed weekend of racing and our R&G-supported riders and teams ensured it was another highly successful weekend with lots of silverware!
Proving to be a weekend for the young guns, RAF Regular & Reserve Kawasaki’s Jake Dixon stunned the paddock with an incredible double win – his maiden victories in the Superbike class. Meanwhile, two strong rides, including a podium in the opening race, ensured Luke Mossey took the lead at the top of the standings. After a tough weekend, Anvil Hire Yamaha rider Josh Brookes secured 5th in the second race to remain in the all-important top six Showdown position.
Gearlink Kawasaki’s Andrew Irwin took a double podium in the two Dickies British Supersport Championship races, narrowly missing out on his maiden victory in the second race on Sunday by just 0.101s. It was a mixed weekend for our riders in the Hel Performance British Motostar Championship. After qualifying on pole position, a technical fault saw Tom Booth-Amos unable to compete in the two races but title rival Jake Archer took a dominating double to move to the top of the Championship standings.
Further R&G success came in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship when Chrissy Rouse was able to bounce back from his DNF in race one to secure a podium in race two, whilst Oulton Park winner Mason Law enjoyed two strong fourth place finishes. In the Hyundai Heavy Industries British Sidecar Championship, the Brian Gray Powerbiking outfit of Founds/Peters also enjoyed a second place in the second race of the week.
After a fantastic ride in the Pirelli National Superstock 600 championship, where he took his maiden podium finish and an even more impressive ride to tenth in the Supersport race (despite using his Superstock machine), Ryan Watson was chosen by James Hayden as “R&G Rookie of the Meeting” for Knockhill.
