FOX MORETON LEADS KTM CLEAN SWEEP IN ROOKIES’ TROPHY

After taking another podium, KTM Junior Cup rider Taylor Fox Moreton maintains his lead at the top of the R&G Rookies’ Trophy but fellow cup riders Scott Swann and Will Lathrope are hot on his heels. A double victory from British Motostar Standard Championship Dan Jones sees him named Jamie Whitham’s R&G Rookie of the Meeting.!

Following another action-packed weekend of racing at Snetterton, Taylor Fox Moreton was able to hold onto his lead in the R&G Rookies’ Trophy, despite scoring no points in the opening KTM Junior Cup race. The young rider was able to bounce back to claim another podium in the second race, but two fantastic second places from Scott Swann and a third and fourth from Will Lathrope sees them leap up the Rookies’ Trophy standings to second and third. The top three are now covered by just 11 points.

Open to those riders competing in their first full season in their respective class, the R&G Rookies’ Trophy aims to reward those riders, with the overall winner at the end of the season receiving £500 cash and £1,000 worth of R&G product support for the 2017 season. Points are awarded based on the rider’s performance compared to their fellow rookies in the class, irrespective of the overall finishing position.

After taking two dominate victories and the series lead in the Hel Performance British Motostar Standard Championship, Eurosport presenter James Whitham nominated Dan Jones as the R&G ‘Rookie of the Meeting’. Dan will receive his prize, a set of R&G Aero Knee Sliders, in a special presentation on the grid at Thruxton.

R&G UK Sales Manager Alan Garrett added “The season is really beginning to heat up now, and as the rookies’ continue to get to grips with their machines we’re seeing some different names begin to creep up the R&G Rookies’ Trophy standings. It’s fantastic to see three KTM Cup riders at the top, demonstrating the depth of young talent we have in the UK.

Dan Jones is also a worthy winner of the Rookie of the Meeting award, there were some notable rides across the weekend – including Tarran Mackenzie taking pole, second and victory in Supersport – but two hard-earned wins and the new series lead means Dan is our clear winner!”
