Bennetts BSB Showdown begins!
The opening round of the 2023 Bennetts British Superbike Championship Showdown was certainly an epic, and it looks pretty certain the title will go down to the wire!
For our R&G-protected Superbike riders, the undulating Oulton Park circuit offered up highs and lows. Oxford Products Racing Ducati’s Christian Iddon claimed a trio of hard-fought seventh places, while Starline Racing Kawasaki’s Storm Stacey showed flashes of his pace throughout, but bad luck held him back from scoring the points he deserved.
In the R&G Rising Stars league, which aims to highlight those rookie riders making their debut in the BSB class, Charlie Nesbitt continues to lead the way, edging his lead over Max Cook to just 15 points, who in turn, is only six points ahead of Bradley Perie. With the increased points for the final Showdown rounds, it is still certainly all to play for!
‘Our’ biggest success came in the British Supersport class, where Gearlink Kawasaki’s Tom Booth-Amos was able to take a dominant double, impressing everyone with his speed over the weekend.
Oulton Park also played host to the penultimate round of the R&G British Talent Cup. It was another frantic pair of races, with the race wins being shared between Sullivan Mounsey and Amanuel Brinton. Joining them on the podium were Evan Belford, Harrison Dessoy and Lucas Brown. With just one round remaining, Belford holds a commanding lead at the top of the standings and will be looking to wrap up the title in the opening race at Donington Park.
