Job Vacancy: Design Engineer
We are recruiting for an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment to design and develop new products for the market leaders in motorcycle crash protection.
The successful candidate will be in control of the full product life cycle using the latest in CAD based design practices including the use of a 3D scanner and 3D printers for rapid prototyping as well as traditional workshop skills for a good balance of office and workshop environments.
The role will involve:
- Enhancing the current catalogue and bringing new products to market on the latest motorcycles.
- Producing technical documentation including BOM’s and Fitting instructions to accompany the product range.
- The use of a state-of-the-art 3D Scanner to collect data.
- The use of 3D printers for rapid prototyping.
- Using traditional fabrication techniques (sheet metal bending, pillar drills, bandsaw, and power tools) to make prototypes.
The ideal candidate should have:
- Experience in the use of CAD software (preferably Autodesk Inventor) including engineering drawing.
- A degree in a relevant design or automotive course and/ or have proven experience in a relevant position.
- Good hands-on automotive experience.
- Basic fabrication skills including the use of pillar drill, bandsaw, and power tools.
- Good communication skills with the ability to produce clear and concise technical documents.
- A keen interest in motorcycles.
The successful candidate will have proven design experience, preferably within an automotive background, or be a recent graduate within the motorsport or design sectors with relevant placement experience. Full training can be provided for 3D scanning, printing, and engineering drawing if required.
